Unexpected inspiration

I took a walk through a cemetery the other day. Not something I normally (or ever) do, but I was in a part of town I don’t usually visit, had some time to kill, and it was a nice afternoon.

I wasn’t looking for anything, but inspiration found me.

In the older part of the grounds, I noticed the lettering on the headstones.
Some carved deep into the stone, others raised in relief.
Each one unique, timeless and the result of care, skill, and time.
More original and expressive than most of what I scroll past in a week.

And it endures.

Work literally made to last—still standing strong more than a century later.
Cut by hand, weathered by time, but still legible. Still beautiful.

It made me think of something a former teammate once said during lockdowns:
“Things happen when you get out of the house.”

Inspiration doesn’t always show up on our screens, sometimes it’s out there waiting to be found.
